USMEF Trade Team Media Call from Tokyo Set for Friday, Sept. 11

The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) will conduct a media conference call on Friday, Sept. 11 from its office in Tokyo, Japan. The call will begin at 8:00 a.m. Eastern time, and will feature participants from a delegation of U.S. producers and other agricultural leaders visiting Japan.

The panel of conference call participants will include:

  • Mike Foley, Lt. Governor of Nebraska
  • Chris Hodges, CEO, National Pork Board
  • John Anderson, Deputy Chief Economist, American Farm Bureau Federation
  • Gary Marshall, CEO, Missouri Corn Merchandising Council

Reporters who wish to participate in the call should dial 1-866-519-2804 and enter passcode 770447. If you are calling from an area that cannot access this toll-free number, please dial 1-719-234-7307 and use the same passcode.

The panelists will offer observations from meetings held earlier in the week with Japanese importers, distributors, retailers, processors and other food industry professionals, as well as a major USMEF meat trade seminar held earlier in the day. They will also offer their thoughts on current market conditions for U.S. pork and beef in Japan and the importance of the Japanese market. Their remarks will be followed by a question-and-answer session, to conclude by 9:00 a.m. Eastern time.

To ensure that we are able to conclude the call in one hour, we will limit media questions to the four panelists listed above. However, other members of the delegation may be available for interviews upon their return from Japan. They include:

  • Philip Seng, USMEF President and CEO
  • John Hagenbuch, Director, Illinois Soybean Association

Merry Christmas! It was very busy year for us. We are very thankful we had some irrigation on this dry year, it was a life saver. We had a really good corn silage crop and a really poor canola crop. We also finished our barn project, and did an upgrade at our river screen intakes to protect them from the ice.
