Weather Outlook For April 14, 2015

By Kyle Imhoff

April, thus far, has been relatively wet and mild across the western half of the state while much of eastern PA has been drier than average with temperatures near to slightly below normal. Seasonal temperatures with a few chances for some widespread rainfall are in the forecast for the upcoming week.

Wednesday and Thursday will be tranquil across the commonwealth with high temperatures near seasonal levels in the upper 50s to mid-60s and partly to mostly sunny skies. The first batch of precipitation will approach the region Thursday evening. Showers will arrive by sunset in western PA and spread eastward overnight. Any rain will taper off by Friday evening. More rain showers are possible on Saturday, though the majority of the state will likely stay dry for at least half of the day. Unsettled weather, and a better chance for more widespread precipitation, will occur as the workweek approaches.

A slow-moving disturbance will crawl out of the Southern Plains into the Great Lakes region. The chance for rain will last through the day on Tuesday. Following this storm, temperatures will cool down to below normal levels for the remainder of next week. For the next 7 days, most places will see at least a half-inch of rain with some areas seeing upwards of 1-2” in heavier showers and prolonged periods of rain.
