Weather Report For March 31, 2015

By Kyle Imhoff

The month of March ended with relatively cool weather across the state, with even some snow falling in parts of northern PA on the 31st. The month ended relatively dry over the northern half of the state, while far southwestern and southeastern PA saw above normal precipitation.

The first couple of days of April will bring a brief reprieve from the very chilly weather seen across the state over the past couple of weeks, but unsettled weather will be the norm for the next week. Thursday will be mild across the state, with most areas seeing highs in the 60’s to possibly the low 70’s in parts of southwestern Pennsylvania. A cold front will bring showers and even a few rumbles of thunder to the region late Thursday evening into the day on Friday. Most of the state will see at least .25” of rain, with areas in the heaviest showers/storms tallying an inch or more of rain by Friday evening.

A wave of low pressure will form along the front that could bring another period of rain to the area overnight Friday into Saturday. There may even be some snow in the northwestern part of the state behind the front on Saturday. Temperatures will be below normal for both Saturday and Sunday, with another disturbance bringing the potential for more rain or snow to the state during the day on Sunday. Yet another storm will approach the region by late Monday into Tuesday. A slow-moving front associated with this disturbance will bring the potential for an extended period of wet weather through the middle of next week.
