Producers in Manitoba continue to harvest spring cereals, canola, flax, edible beans and soybeans.
The province's weekly crop report also states that the first acres of sunflowers and grain corn have also been harvested.
However, harvest progress has been slowed due to recent rainfall.
Pam de Roquigny, cereal specialist with Manitoba Agriculture, says the excess moisture could have an adverse affect on crop quality.
"Anytime we get wet weather during the harvest period, that can have an impact on any crop that remains out in the field, so we can see some weathering impacts," she said. "Unfortunately, there's not much we can do in terms of controlling the weather at the time of harvest but producers are making decisions on a day-to-day basis in terms of what can be harvested, keeping in mind the quality of the crop and trying to maintain as much quality as possible."
She notes there has also been challenges with putting the wet crops through the combine.
