Winnipeg Goldeyes to Celebrate Bacon at Tomorrow's Baseball Game

By Bruce Cochrane.

Bacon will be the theme tomorrow night at Shaw Stadium, as the Winnipeg Goldeyes baseball team, in partnership with Manitoba Pork, hosts bacon night.

August is Bacon Month in Manitoba, Canada's largest bacon producing province.

As part of the special events planned to celebrate Bacon Month, Manitoba's pork producers have once again teamed with the Winnipeg Goldeyes to celebrate bacon.

Susan Riese, the Manager of Public Relations and Consumer Marketing Programs with Manitoba Pork, says this will be the second annual bacon night at Shaw Stadium.

Susan Riese-Manitoba Pork:

We've been partnering with the Winnipeg Goldeyes since about 2006.

Typically our involvement with them includes a game sponsorship but we also provide support for several of their other fund raising activities that support their Field of Dreams Foundation.

A great cause, the foundation supports different children's charities around the province.

For the second year the Goldeyes themselves will be sporting their bacon themed jerseys which are great and coordinating ball caps.

Fans will be able to take part in our pork on a bun barbecue prior to the game with all proceeds going to Field of Dreams.

We're also offering bacon marmalade as a condiment for that.

Around the concourse fans will be able to purchase different bacon themed food items and even some sweet treats like maple bacon cupcakes.

It's just going to be bacon everywhere that night.

Manitoba Pork's Chair George Matheson will throw out the first pitch for tomorrow's game and all fans who buy bacon-themed food items or beverages will receive an enter-to-win ballot for a Winnipeg Goldeyes' bacon themed jersey.
