(OMAHA, Neb.) CLAAS gives producers the ability to increase capacity and improve crop quality by offering new attachments and features for the JAGUAR forage harvesters. The PU 380 PRO pick-up head and CAM PILOT offer features that elevate efficiency with pinpoint accuracy and effortless operation.
The new PU 380 PRO offers a pick-up width of 12’ 6” with the standard quick coupler providing easy connection and operation on the JAGUAR forage harvester. The PU 380 PRO features lateral contour for better ground following controlled from the cab. The pick-up pivots independently from the main frame of the head offering a smoother ride, greater crop pick-up as it quickly adapts to ground contour and reduces movement of the feeder housing.
Bob Armstrong, North American Product Marketing Manager stated, “What’s truly unique is how the PU 380 PRO is built. The heavy-duty gear box along with the ratchet style auger clutch proves to be stronger with a longer life than a conventional friction clutch.” Armstrong continues, “CLAAS has also formed and welded the auger tube into a spiral and widened the auger tube with short flighting for more strength and balance. Replaceable tines, camshaft arms, wear strips on the auger and paddles and the ability to replace the floor and intake assures harvesting uptime. If you take a look, you’ll see how CLAAS put the “PRO” into this engineered design.”
The PU 380 PRO is also equipped with the proven roller crop press, which lends a hand by smoothing out lumpy windrows, increasing the capacity of the JAGUAR up to 10%. In turn, you reduce your time spent in the field and gain ground during the essential time of harvest. Tine bars are “U” shaped for maximum strength and durability and equipped with CLAAS engineered tines – the thickest tine in the industry – with a curve at the endpoint allowing a better pick-up of light, thin crops. The PU 380 PRO has excellent flotation capabilities virtually over any terrain and gauge wheels positioned directly in line with the pick-up teeth to prevent digging.
Offered with CLAAS pick-up heads, the JAGUAR forage harvester can now be outfitted with CAM PILOT, which automatically steers the JAGUAR along a windrow so the operator can maximize efficiency and concentrate on keeping the machine running at top performance. The CAM PILOT gives you a continuous flow as it follows the path of uneven swaths on the straightaway, around corners and up and down hilly terrain. What’s better, the CLAAS CAM PILOT is a cost-effective alternative solution for GPS.
In addition, CLAAS introduces the new DIRECT DISC 610 Contour head giving more options, once again, to help grower’s yield higher results. With the line of DIRECT DISC heads, mowing and chopping are complete in a single operation. And, new to the family is the DD 610 Contour with a 20’ working width. The head features a lateral tilt frame design and uses mechanical self-leveling to ensure the best quality cut in the field. The new head comes standard with the QUICK KNIFE release system giving growers one-step blade replacement with no need for additional tools.
