Case Ih Launches Expanded Line Of Corn Heads

RACINE, Wis. - To fully utilize Case IH high-capacity combines, two new corn heads and key design features are being added so growers can harvest more, faster - without sacrificing grain quality. The expanded offering includes:

New 3400 Series corn heads in 16-row, 30-in. and 18-row, 20-in. configurations Updated 2600 Series chopping corn heads with enhancements to improve durability and gentle handling

"Designed for maximum performance and rugged reliability at today's faster harvest speeds, our new Case IH 3400 Series corn heads are ideal for large-scale growers. They perfectly match the Axial-Flow® 8120 and 9120, the biggest combine with the highest horsepower and largest capacity in North America," says Kelly Kravig, Case IH marketing manager for combines and headers. "We also updated our 2600 Series chopping corn heads with features to minimize grain damage and loss when picking in less than ideal conditions - like lodged and downed corn."

3400 Series corn heads

Now available in 6-, 8-, 12-, 16- and 18-row configurations, Case IH 3400 Series corn heads feature point-to-point pinching style stalk rolls for aggressive residue management. "They pick and slice stalks cleaner than competitive intermeshing designs, increasing the overall capacity and performance of the combine," says Kravig.

Case IH style heads also accelerate stalk decomposition. "Due to new genetics, today's corn stalks are tougher and don't break down as easily, but Case IH corn heads better manage that residue by thoroughly chewing it up - spurring the decomposition process to make nutrients available in the soil for the next crop," explains Kravig.

Improved high-capacity front stalk roll spirals bring more material in at a faster rate and allow higher combine groundspeeds. Longer stalk rolls with front bearing support provide added strength to handle thicker corn stalks and taller corn. And a high-capacity gearbox with larger bearings handles increased torque from higher plant populations and yields.

2600 Series chopping corn heads

Case IH 2600 Series chopping corn heads are available in 6-, 8- and 12-row configurations to efficiently chop cornstalks for residue management while harvesting. New, standard polyethylene outer dividers look better and are more durable than metal. And, because the polyethylene dividers reduce ear bounce, grain loss is minimized.

New, optional hydraulic driven spiral end dividers pick up downed corn stalks and gently guide them into the corn head. "This delivers every ear to the combine without ear toss or kernel loss at the head," says Kravig.

Case IH chopping corn heads feature point-to-point knife-type stalk rolls with a larger diameter stalk roll for increased capacity. Setting them apart from competitive models, Case IH chopping corn heads Power Feed the corn stalks directly into the path of the chopping blades. The combination of larger diameter stalk rolls and the forward position of the chopper, centered on the stalk rolls, allows for increased capacity and faster harvest speeds. Two blades chop nearly the full length of the stalks, for a consistent 3 - 6-in. length of cut and even residue spread.

"Competitors often place the chopping unit at the rear of the row unit, which is cheaper and easier, but it doesn't ensure the capacity, or quality and consistency of cut that Case IH chopping corn heads provide," explains Kravig. "Because our chopping unit is properly positioned to the stalk rolls, Case IH chopping heads enable a wider range of speed - ½ to 1 ½ miles per hour faster than competitive designs, without sacrificing chop quality - which allows large-scale growers to get more done in the tight harvest window."

The Case IH chopping corn heads also offer an independent gear box, which gives the operator the ability to switch the chopping mechanism on or off independently from the rest of the corn head.

Customers will have the opportunity to see the implements, matched with Case IH Axial-Flow combines, first-hand at farm shows across the Midwest this fall and the larger sizes will be available for purchase for next year's harvest.
