The latest technologies and innovations benefitting producers and the entire agricultural community will be on display at the upcoming AG CONNECT Expo. But, they'll be practical, not "pie in the sky," solutions, geared to helping companies operate at maximum efficiency.
AG CONNECT Expo will be held January 13-15, 2010 (preview day January 12 by special admission) at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
The Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation (AEF) is one exhibitor example of the show's focus on the future. AEF is a manufacturer-led effort for global implementation of international electronics standards, initially ISOBUS, for greater compatibility between different manufacturers' equipment. The goal of this worldwide industry approach is to improve machine functionality and efficiencies, for the benefit of agricultural equipment customers. The initial focus is data communications between tractors and implements.
"AEF's involvement in AG CONNECT Expo illustrates key aspects of the event -- a global focus, emphasis on new technologies and innovation, and an industry forum for the interchange of ideas and experiences from all aspects of agriculture," noted Sara Truesdale Mooney, show director.
AEF is an independent international industry platform. One of the founding members is the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), owner and producer of AG CONNECT Expo. AEM is an active participant in AEF and a longtime promoter of wider global acceptance and use of the ISOBUS standards.
"The needs of the customer drive the direction of AEF. Manufacturers want to ensure that customers worldwide, both in developed and emerging nations, have access to the productivity advances under ISOBUS standardization," stated Darrin Drollinger, AEM's vice president for statistics, technical and safety services.
AEF was founded in 2008 by AEM and VDMA (German Engineering Federation) along with seven internationally operating ag industry companies: AGCO, CLAAS, CNH, Grimme, John Deere, Kverneland Group and Pöttinger. To date the association includes more than 50 members.
General membership in AEF is open to any organization or individual with an interest in promoting the implementation of international agricultural electronic standards.
