USDA : Weekly Export Sales Highlights

Wheat:  Net sales of 407,900 metric tons for delivery in 2009/10 were up noticeably from the previous week and 14 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Nigeria (130,900 MT), Japan (46,400 MT), Venezuela (45,200 MT), Taiwan (41,000 MT), and Mexico (33,700 MT).  Decreases were reported for Bolivia (13,500 MT), Indonesia (2,400 MT), and Morocco (2,000 MT).  Net sales of 40,500 MT for delivery in 2010/11 were for unknown destinations (20,000 MT), the Philippines (16,000 MT), and Japan (4,500 MT).  Exports of 541,000 MT were up 15 percent from the previous week and 24 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were South Korea (73,200 MT), Indonesia (58,600 MT), Nigeria (51,800 MT), Iraq (50,200 MT), the Philippines (48,900 MT), and Thailand (44,600 MT). 

Corn:  Net sales of 338,600 MT for delivery in 2009/10 were down 56 percent from the previous week and 53 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Japan (163,400 MT), Egypt (109,700 MT, including 91,700 MT switched from unknown destinations), Taiwan (104,300 MT), Venezuela (42,100 MT), Costa Rica (27,900 MT, including 26,200 MT switched from Guatemala), Mexico (24,100 MT), and Canada (7,300 MT). Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (94,100 MT), the Dominican Republic (24,900 MT), and Peru (23,000 MT).  Net sales of 300 MT for delivery in 2010/11 were for Canada.  Exports of 964,800 MT were down 9 percent from the previous week, but up 9 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Japan (330,100 MT), South Korea (164,700 MT), Mexico (157,000 MT), Egypt (91,700 MT), Taiwan (71,600 MT), Costa Rica (52,400 MT), and Colombia (27,300 MT).

Barley: There were no sales reported during the week.  Exports of 200 MT were to Mexico.

Sorghum:  Net sales of 74,900 MT were for Mexico (51,900 MT), unknown destinations (14,700 MT), and Japan (8,300 MT).  Exports of 32,600 MT were mainly to Mexico (27,400 MT) and Japan (5,100 MT).

Rice:  Net sales of 133,500 MT were up noticeably from the previous week and 79 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Turkey (36,100 MT), Venezuela (30,000 MT), Iraq (29,000 MT), Mexico (13,600 MT), and Haiti (13,200 MT).  Decreases were reported for Italy (600 MT) and Lebanon (500 MT).  Exports of 65,400 MT were up 17 percent from the previous week, but down 26 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Mexico (22,000 MT), South Korea (17,100 MT), Haiti (7,000 MT), Canada (6,900 MT), and Taiwan (2,500 MT).

Soybeans:  Net sales reductions of 115,800 MT for delivery in 2009/10 resulted as increases for Mexico (58,000 MT), Japan (32,700 MT), Egypt (27,000 MT), Taiwan (21,000 MT), Colombia (9,600 MT), and Costa Rica (8,300 MT, including 8,100 MT switched from Guatemala), were more than offset by decreases for China (192,400 MT), unknown destinations (75,000 MT), Guatemala (8,100 MT), and Peru (5,000 MT).  Net sales of 65,100 MT for delivery in 2010/11 were for China (65,000 MT) and Japan (100 MT).  Exports of 933,000 MT were down 15 percent from the previous week and 18 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (648,800 MT), Mexico (109,500 MT), Japan (33,300 MT), Egypt (27,500 MT), Tunisia (27,100 MT), and Indonesia (24,200 MT).

Soybean Cake and Meal:  Net sales of 1,900 MT for delivery in 2009/10--a marketing-year low--were down 98 percent from the previous week and 99 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases reported for Mexico (44,600 MT), South Korea (31,100 MT, switched from unknown destinations), Poland (26,400 MT, including 24,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Venezuela (20,000 MT), and the Philippines (15,900 MT), were more than offset by decreases for the Dominican Republic (72,300 MT), unknown destinations (54,000 MT), Colombia (37,300 MT), and Morocco (15,000 MT).  Net sales of 300 MT for delivery in 2010/11 were for Canada. Exports of 304,100 MT were up 56 percent from the previous week and 24 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were the Philippines (47,600 MT), Mexico (31,100 MT), South Korea (31,100 MT), Italy (27,500 MT), Ecuador (27,500 MT), and Malaysia (27,400 MT). 

Soybean Oil:  Net sales reductions of 9,400 MT for delivery in 2009/10 resulted as increases for India (29,500 MT, switched from unknown destinations), Peru (1,100 MT), and Panama (500 MT), were more than offset by decreases for unknown destinations (31,000 MT), Mexico (7,100 MT), and Canada (2,800 MT).  There were no sales reported for delivery in 2010/11.  Exports of 97,200 MT were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were India (58,700 MT), the Dominican Republic (9,000 MT), Morocco (6,300 MT), and Peru (6,000 MT). 

Cotton:  Net Upland sales of 131,900 running bales for delivery in 2009/10 were down 1 percent from the previous week and 50 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Turkey (64,700 RB), Indonesia (17,300 RB, including 900 RB switched from unknown destinations), Mexico (12,000 RB), and Pakistan (10,000 RB).  Decreases were reported for India (2,000 RB) and Colombia (200 RB).  Net sales of 19,100 RB for delivery in 2010/11 were for South Korea (13,600 RB), Mexico (5,200 RB), and Japan (300 RB).  Exports of 324,300 RB--a marketing-year high--were up 12 percent from the previous week and 44 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (95,100 RB), Turkey (64,800 RB), Mexico (28,800 RB), Vietnam (21,900 RB), and Indonesia (15,100 RB).  Net American Pima sales of 14,400 RB were up 2 percent from the previous week and 27 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were primarily for Indonesia (3,900 RB, including 300 RB switched from Japan), Germany (2,300 RB), and India (2,300 RB).  There were no sales reported for delivery in 2010/11.  Exports of 8,300 RB were double from the previous week, but down 34 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (4,100 RB), India (1,500 RB), Germany (800 RB), and Pakistan (700 RB).

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 582,300 pieces, all whole cattle hides, were reported for delivery in 2010, up 49 percent from the previous week and 55 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary buyers were China (257,500 pieces), South Korea (123,900 pieces), Taiwan (90,200 pieces), Thailand (35,300 pieces), and Hong Kong (14,200 pieces).  Exports of 512,600 pieces were up 10 percent from the previous week and 18 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 505,800 pieces were primarily to China (241,600 pieces), South Korea (112,200 pieces), Taiwan (47,700 pieces), Vietnam (33,700 pieces), Mexico (16,600 pieces), and Thailand (16,500 pieces).

Net sales of 104,200 wet blues for delivery in 2010 were up 34 percent from the previous week, but down 24 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Mexico (22,100 grain splits and 300 unsplit), Taiwan (18,600 unsplit), China (17,800 unsplit and 100 grain splits), and Italy (13,300 unsplit).  Exports of 131,200 hides were primarily for China (50,800 unsplit and 1,600 grain splits), Italy (30,500 unsplit), Mexico (12,700 grain splits and 5,700 unsplit), and Hong Kong (10,600 grain splits).  Net sales of splits totaling 250,600 pounds were primarily for China (217,400 pounds), Taiwan (35,900 pounds), and Italy (9,600 pounds).  Decreases were reported for South Korea (14,000 pounds).  Exports of 879,200 pounds were mainly to China (556,600 pounds) and Hong Kong (143,000 pounds).

Beef: Net sales of 14,100 MT were up noticeably from the previous week and 92 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Mexico (4,100 MT), Vietnam (2,600 MT), Japan (2,100 MT), South Korea (1,700 MT), and Canada (1,400 MT).  Exports of 12,200 MT were primary for Mexico (3,200 MT), South Korea (1,700 MT), Canada (1,600 MT), Vietnam (1,500 MT), and Japan (1,300 MT).
