“Ontario Swine Improvement Hires General Manager”

INNERKIP, ON – Ontario Swine Improvement is pleased to announce that Rod de Wolde from Millbrook, ON, has accepted the position of permanent General Manager of the organization.  First elected to the OSI Board of Directors in 2005/06, Rod has spent the past six and a half years as Board Chair.  In order to accept this position Rod has resigned his post on the Board.  As Vice-Chair, Phil Smith from Iona Station, ON will assume the role of interim Chairperson.
 
“I’m looking forward to this new chapter in my life and working with the Board and staff at Ontario Swine Improvement.  There are some great opportunities for us to build on and continue the great service and quality that OSI has been known for.  The Swine Industry in Ontario is very robust and I’m glad that I can remain working with the great people and the wonderful staff at OSI.”, says Rod.
 
Bill Wymenga, Board member and Chair of the hiring committee says, “We are very pleased to have Rod come on board as our General Manager as he comes to us with an excellent knowledge base and commitment to our industry.  With his past duties as Board Chair and filling in as acting General Manager, Rod will provide a seamless transition to his new position with a strong focus on moving our organization forward.”
 
Ontario Swine Improvement Inc. is a not-for-profit industry organization run by a Board of Directors.  OSI acts as a Regional Centre for the Canadian Centre for Swine Improvement focusing on Genetic Improvement and Research and Development.  The organization also operates a world class Artificial Insemination Unit that is qualified by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency as an export qualified facility. The A.I. Unit specializes in fresh and frozen semen for domestic and international use, for the customers of their Genetic Company clients.
