Purdue University Extension will provide expertise on several topics at this year's Indiana Livestock, Forage & Grain Forum.
The Indiana Soybean Alliance will conduct the educational gathering on Monday, Feb. 27, at the JW Marriott, 10 S. West St. in Indianapolis. A morning general session will include speakers on environmental issues affecting Indiana's grain and livestock farmers, and afternoon breakout sessions will cover topics of specific interest to each commodity group.
"Purdue Extension is pleased to partner with other Indiana agriculture organizations to bring the most relevant and up-to-date information to producers at this event," said Chuck Hibberd, associate dean of Agriculture and director of Purdue Extension. "It has become an important venue for highly relevant education and networking that is valuable to Indiana agriculture."
Purdue Extension specialists will conduct the following sessions:
* 2 p.m.: "Partner with Purdue to Conduct Research on Your Farm" by Greg Bossaer, Purdue Extension educator for agriculture and natural resources in White County, and Jim Camberato, a Purdue associate professor of agronomy.
* 2 p.m.: "Opportunities to Integrate Cover Crops into Livestock and Cash Crop Grain Farms" by Keith D. Johnson, a Purdue forage crops specialist, and Hans Kok, coordinator of the Indiana Conservation Cropping Systems.
* 3:30 p.m.: "Keys to Developing Your Family Farm's Succession Plan" by Tamara Ogle, a Purdue Extension educator for agriculture and natural resources in Cass County.
