Agriculture Trade Expected To Grow

Saskatchewan’s new Growth Plan was released last week.

Everett Hindley, the Legislative Secretary for Trade and Export Development, says a number of the goals relate specifically to agriculture and increasing trade.

“This is a key plank of the growth plan going forward. We see that as something that is integral to the success of our Province going into the next decade.”

He notes among the Agriculture goals for 2030 include plans to increase exports by 50%, and grow agri-food exports to $20 billion.

“That’s something (agricultural exports) that is so significant to our province and to our economy as a whole.  You know, we’ve talked about it in the past about how much our agricultural exports and frankly our exports in general have increased in the last ten or twelve years here, and it’s going to continue to do that.”
