Carlier Talks Challenges And Opportunities With Beef Producers

Alberta's Agriculture and Forestry Minister helped kick-off the 16th Annual Alberta Beef industry Conference in Red Deer this week.

Oneil Carlier met with a number of industry groups in the morning, including the Alberta Beef Producers and Alberta Cattle Feeders Association, before delivering his opening remarks on Wednesday, March 13.

Carlier says producers raised concerns such as the new Canada Food Guide and market access, but they were also able to talk about opportunities for the sector.

"There's opportunities in being able to access new markets from China, to South Korea, to Japan, which is always fascinating. It's been a big part of my portfolio to expand those markets as much as we can, because we have good products, and we have products that the world wants."

Carlier adds the conference is a great event for producers to network and collaborate on challenges.
