Corn & Soybean 81% Good-Excellent; Maturity near Average

Both Nebraska's corn and soybean crops are rated 81% good to excellent, according to USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service crop progress and condition report for the week ending September 2.
 
Nebraska is reporting the highest percentage of any state in the good-excellent range for both corn and soybean, according to the national Crop Progress Report for this week.
 
Good to excellent corn ratings for other states included: Colorado, 72%; Illinois, 75%; Indiana, 72%; Iowa, 74%; Kansas 44%; Kentucky, 75%; Michigan, 50%; Minnesota, 75%; Missouri, 29%; Ohio, 79%; Pennsylvania, 65%; South Dakota, 65%, and Wisconsin, 72%.
 
Good to excellent soybean ratings for other states included: Illinois, 76%; Indianna, 72%, Iowa, 72%; Kansas, 49%;Kentucky, 77%; Michigan, 65%; Minnesota, 69%; Missouri, 43%; North Dakota, 52%; Ohio, 80%; South Dakota, 57%; Tennessee, 73%; and Wisconsin, 73%.
 
Overall, national corn production is rated 21% excellent, 46% good, 21% fair, 8% poor, and 4% very poor. National soybean production is rated 17% excellent, 49% good, 23% fair, 8% poor, and 3% very poor.
 
In Nebraska Corn condition rated 1% very poor, 5% poor, 13% fair, 52% good, and 29% excellent. Corn dough was 97%, equal to last year, and near the five-year average of 95%. Dented was 72%, ahead of last year's 66% and the average of 64%. Mature was 9%, equal to last year, and near the 7% average.
 
Soybean condition rated 1% very poor, 5% poor, 13% fair, 56% good, and 25% excellent. Soybeans dropping leaves was 15%, ahead of 7% last year and the average of 10%.
 
Winter wheat planted was 1%, equal to last year, and near the average of 2%.
 
Sorghum condition rated 0% very poor, 1% poor, 15% fair, 56% good, and 28% excellent. Sorghum coloring was 75%, ahead of 61% last year and the average of 63%. Mature was 7%, near 5% last year and the average of 3%.
 
Pasture and range conditions rated 1% very poor, 5% poor, 17% fair, 65% good, and 12% excellent.
