Government of Canada helping more young people in Montréal gain skills and experience for success - 14,500 youth have benefitted since 2015

Montréal, Quebec - Employment and Social Development Canada - Canada’s prosperity depends on young Canadians launching meaningful careers. By helping them gain the skills and experience they need for a fair chance at success, we are investing in our greatest asset—our people.
 
The Honorable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, spoke about Canada’s Youth Employment Strategy and highlighted its success in Montréal.
 
Since 2015, the Government of Canada has provided over $63.5 million to organizations throughout Montréal for programming that supports skills training and meaningful work opportunities for young Canadians. This hard work and collaboration has resulted in about 14,500 young people receiving training and employment under the three streams of the Youth Employment Strategy: Skills Link, Career Focus and Canada Summer Jobs.
 
Minister Hajdu spoke at an event with Accès-Travail de Montréal, whose project has been funded for over $1.25 million under Skills Link. The Accès-Travail project supports young Canadians with barriers to employment gain employment skills and paid work experience with local businesses.
