Harvest has begun in parts of Southwest Oklahoma in places where producers have been able to dodge the rain long enough to get something out of the field. Yesterday morning, light showers hindered farmers from being able to get into the fields. A small load was taken in at Grandfield and approximately 10 to 12 loads have been accepted out of the field in different locations at Frederick.
No yields have been reported yet, but test weights have been favorable ranging from 60 to 61 lbs. per bushel. No protein has been reported based on it being too early to receive a representative sample. Today producers have been hindered once again with heavy dew in the field from this morning along with cooler temperatures, but producers were hopeful to get back into the field late this afternoon.
