Register for CanadaGAP industry workshops

CanadaGAP is an on-farm food safety program for fresh fruit and vegetable business operators.

Alberta Agriculture and Forestry (AF) is hosting the 2 workshops – Level 1 CanadaGAP on February 4, 2020 and Level 2 CanadaGAP on February 5, 2020 in Lacombe.

Implementing CanadaGAP helps producers meet customer requirements for safe food, positions their business to access new market channels and increases their opportunities for success. As well, those businesses with CanadaGAP meet the preventative control plan requirements of the Safe Food for Canadians Act and Regulations (SFCR).

Level 1 is for those producers enroled in and working towards CanadaGAP certification as well as those interested in enrolling.

Level 2 will assist those producers already certified in CanadaGAP to maximize their investment and continue to improve food safety processes within their operations. It will better position producers to take corrective action and maintain certification on their own or with the support of an industry consultant.

Workshop participants will receive a pre-workshop assignment to assess their own CanadaGAP journey. The completed assignments will assist the instructor to understand each participant’s operation and business needs within the CanadaGAP program.

Workshops begin at 8:30 am and run to 4:30 pm at the Agriculture Building in Lacombe.

Register for either workshop by calling the Ag-Info Centre at 1-800-337-6030. Deadline for registration is January 27, 2020.
