Video: 100 Rare Tractors Sold At Hawkins Auction.

A lifetime tractor collection was sold off by a northwest Iowa family. The family of Dave Hawkins, an avid tractor collector during his life, auctioned his entire collection on the family farm near Le Mars today. More than 100 tractors dating all the way back to 1928 were auctioned off by the Brock Auction Company as Dave's heirs stood watch.

Tractors were Dave's passion, and the auction was not only a tribute to Dave, but an effort to preserve farming heritage. "It started in 1929," auction coordinator Alex Popken said. "His dad bought a 'D,' and it's been in the family ever since. We're keeping it, but that tractor started the whole collection. When his dad passed away, he kept it, and that kind of started his interest."

Buyers from as far away as Washington state, Florida and Canada, came out to take part in the event. While the tractors were the main attraction of today's auction, several showed interest in the many other pieces of farming equipment that Hawkins collected during his lifetime.

Hawkins' family said that they expected to make as much as $500,000 dollars from today's auction.
