USDA : Weekly Export Sales Highlights - 24 June 2010

Wheat:  Net sales 720,600 MT for the 2010/11 marketing year were primarily for unknown destinations (244,500 MT), Brazil (80,000 MT), Japan (63,400 MT), Thailand (51,000 MT), Nigeria (47,500 MT), the Dominican Republic(39,900 MT), and Chile(38,400 MT).  Decreases were reported for South Korea (700 MT).  Exports were mainly for Japan (84,500 MT), Chile (38,400 MT), Mexico (38,300 MT), the Philippines (25,500 MT), Guatemala (23,000 MT), and South Korea (22,900 MT).  

Corn:  Net sales of 1,123,400 MT for delivery in 2009/10 were up 3 percent from the previous week and 35 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Japan (442,300 MT, including 77,400 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 28,800 MT), China (230,000 MT), Egypt (186,000 MT), Saudi Arabia (121,100 MT, including 113,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), South Korea (52,600 MT), Colombia (49,600 MT, including 35,500 MT switched from unknown destinations), and Mexico (33,700 MT).  Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (170,400 MT), Guatemala (11,800 MT), the French West Indies (4,800 MT), Peru (4,300 MT) and Chile (3,800 MT).  Net sales of 332,300 MT for delivery in 2010/11 were mainly for South Korea (115,000 MT), Guatemala (65,400 MT), and unknown destinations (61,000 MT).  Exports of 818,100 MT were down 24 percent from the previous week and 27 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were South Korea (159,700 MT), Saudi Arabia (124,100 MT), Japan (111,500 MT), Mexico (111,100 MT), Colombia (69,200 MT), and Egypt (52,100 MT). 

Barley:  There were no sales or exports reported during the week. 

Sorghum: Net sales of 8,400 MT were reported for Mexico (7,000 MT) and Japan (2,500 MT, switched from unknown destinations). Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (1,100 MT).  Exports of 7,300 MT were to Mexico (4,800 MT) and Japan (2,500 MT).

Rice: Net sales of 59,000 MT were up 5 percent from the previous week and 70 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for unknown destinations (25,000 MT), Mexico (8,000 MT), Jordan (5,700 MT), Ghana (5,100 MT), and Canada (2,400 MT).  Exports of 74,900 MT were up 75 percent from the previous week and 18 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Japan (27,700 MT), Mexico (12,400 MT), Honduras (8,900 MT), El Salvador (5,500 MT), and Costa Rica (4,400 MT).

Soybeans:  Net sales of 308,300 MT for delivery in 2009/10 were down noticeably from the previous week, but up noticeably from the prior 4-week average.  Increases reported for Japan (146,600 MT, including 36,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 400 MT), China (64,100 MT), and Syria (50,000 MT), were partially offset by decreases for Guatemala (5,800 MT) and Cuba (800 MT).  Net sales of 233,000 MT for delivery in 2010/11 were for unknown destinations (175,000 MT) and China (58,000 MT).  Exports of 239,200 MT were up 13 percent from the previous week and 42 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Mexico (85,300 MT), China (65,100 MT), Japan (40,200 MT), Indonesia (10,500 MT), and Colombia (9,600 MT).

Soybean Cake and Meal:  Net sales of 35,100 MT for delivery in 2009/10 were down 58 percent from the previous week and 53 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases reported for Canada (14,900 MT), Saudi Arabia (11,000 MT, including 8,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Panama (10,000 MT), and the Dominican Republic (8,200 MT), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (8,000 MT), Georgia (5,000 MT), and the French West Indies (3,300 MT).  Net sales of 41,500 MT for delivery in 2010/11 were mainly for Guatemala (28,000 MT).  Exports of 76,200 MT were down 39 percent from the previous week and 36 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were the Canada (17,800 MT), Mexico (17,000 MT), the Dominican Republic (14,700 MT), Japan (10,300 MT), and Saudi Arabia (9,000 MT).  

Soybean Oil:  Net sales of 45,500 MT for delivery in 2009/10 were down 48 percent from the previous week, but up 57 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for China (35,000 MT), the Netherlands (8,000 MT), and Nicaragua (2,000 MT).  There were no sales reported for delivery in 2010/11.  Exports of 5,600 MT were up noticeably from the previous week, but down 21 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Nicaragua (2,600 MT), Mexico (2,300 MT), and Canada (600 MT).  

Cotton:  Net Upland sales of 84,000 running bales for delivery in 2009/10 were down 71 percent from the previous week and 75 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for China (32,900 RB), Turkey (11,400 RB), Bangladesh (10,400 RB)Thailand (8,300 RB), and Peru (4,700 RB), were partially offset by decreases for El Salvador (2,800 RB).  Net sales of 172,200 RB for delivery in 2010/11 were mainly for Morocco (36,000 RB), Malaysia (33,100 RB), Turkey (32,900 RB), and Thailand (24,700 RB).  Decreases were reported for El Salvador (4,500 RB) and Vietnam (2,700 RB).  Exports for own account were reported for China (3,600 RB).  Exports of 311,300 RB were up 20 percent from the previous week and 13 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (77,400 RB), Turkey (68,500 RB), Mexico (35,100 RB), Bangladesh (22,900 RB), Indonesia (17,000 RB), and Thailand (16,300 RB).  Net American Pima sales of 400 RB were down 77 percent from the previous week and 61 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were primarily for Indonesia (300 RB).  Net sales of 200 RB for delivery in 2010/11 were for Japan.  Exports of 5,700 RB were up 15 percent from the previous week and 52 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Japan (3,000 RB), Peru (1,000 RB), India (700 RB), and Pakistan (700 RB).

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 292,200 pieces were reported for delivery in 2010, were down 58 percent from the previous week and 38 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 282,600 pieces were mainly for South Korea (101,300 pieces), China (54,600 pieces), Thailand (32,100 pieces), Vietnam (23,200 pieces, including 15,200 pieces switched from China and decreases of 4,200 pieces), and Taiwan (22,100 pieces).  Exports of 422,500 pieces were down 20 percent from the previous week and 14 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 419,700 pieces were primarily to China (150,300 pieces), South Korea (128,000 pieces), Taiwan (40,100 pieces), Hong Kong (37,800 pieces), and Mexico (23,500 pieces).

Net sales of 159,100 wet blues for delivery in 2010 were up noticeably from the previous week and 23 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary buyers were China (77,600 unsplit), Vietnam (39,600 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (19,200 unsplit and decreases of 200 grain splits).  Exports of 141,800 hides were primarily for China (66,000 unsplit), Vietnam (16,000 unsplit), Hong Kong (9,000 unsplit and 6,300 grain splits), and the Dominican Republic (5,600 unsplit and 900 grain splits).  Net sales of splits totaling 243,400 pounds were for South Korea (193,800 pounds), Indonesia (25,800 pounds), and China (23,800 pounds).   Exports of 129,500 pounds were mainly to South Korea.

Beef:  Net sales of 14,700 MT were up 42 percent from the previous week and 38 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for South Korea (5,800 MT), Mexico (2,900 MT), Canada (1,600 MT), Japan (1,500 MT), and Russia (1,000 MT).  Exports of 13,300 MT were primarily for Mexico (3,000 MT), South Korea (3,000 MT), Japan (2,300 MT), Canada (1,500 MT), and Vietnam (900 MT).
