GENOA, OH - The higher-than-average rainfall is causing problems for farmers by delaying planting.
For Genoa farmer Paul Blausey, the weather forecast sounds like a broken record.
"It's got rain Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday--clear Friday" says Blausey.
Soggy conditions keeps Paul's grandson Chad Gargas out of the fields and in the barn loading straw onto a semi-truck for sale.
He's waiting for the rain to stop and the fields to dry.
"We got all the equipment worked on, planters ready to go, fertilizer trucks ready to go. Just a matter of it being dry enough to get out into the fields" says Gargas.
The muddy fields are beginning to look more like lakes in parts of Genoa.
Three inches of rain has fallen in the last six days.
Two to four inches are predicted between now and Thursday.
If the soaking continues, farmers won't begin planting until sometime between May 10th and 15th.
