USDA: Weekly Export Sales Report

This summary is based on reports from exporters for the period June 24-30, 2011.

Wheat:  Net sales of 424,200 MT for the 2011/12 marketing year were primarily for Iraq (100,000 MT, switched from unknown destinations), the Philippines (92,700 MT), Mexico (65,000 MT), Nigeria (64,900 MT, including 5,900 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 10,000 MT), China (55,000 MT), Republic of South Africa (33,800 MT, including 34,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 200 MT), and Colombia (32,500 MT).  Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (79,200 MT), Peru (17,900 MT), Costa Rica (7,700 MT), and Cuba (5,000 MT).  Exports of 726,800 MT were mainly to Japan (166,000 MT), Nigeria (109,300 MT), Yemen (60,900 MT), Colombia (52,600 MT), Jordan (52,400 MT), the Philippines (44,700 MT), and Costa Rica (34,800 MT).

Corn:  Net sales of 621,800 MT were down 10 percent from the previous week, but up 45 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases reported for unknown destinations (250,600 MT), Japan (211,500 MT, including 128,300 MT switched from unknown destinations), Portugal (66,000 MT, including 60,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Taiwan (63,300 MT), Spain (54,000 MT, switched from unknown destinations), and Venezuela (44,000 MT), were partially offset by decreases for Colombia (73,800 MT), the Dominican Republic (61,900 MT), Costa Rica (30,200 MT), and Guatemala (24,000 MT).  Net sales of 868,800 MT for delivery in 2011/2012 were mainly reported for unknown destinations (783,000 MT), Mexico (31,900 MT), Costa Rica (27,400 MT), and Honduras (19,800 MT).  Decreases were reported for Jamaica (11,000 MT) and the Dominican Republic (3,700 MT).  Exports of 1,040,800 MT were up 59 percent from the previous week and 14 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Japan (352,200 MT), Mexico (181,500 MT), South Korea (115,600 MT), Portugal (66,000 MT), Venezuela (63,800 MT), and Spain (54,000 MT).

 Barley:   There were no sales or exports reported during the week.

Sorghum:  Net sales of 1,200 MT--a marketing-year low--were mainly for Mexico.  Exports of 8,400 MT were mainly to Mexico.

Rice:  Net sales of 106,700 MT were up 60 percent from the previous week and 58 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Mexico (45,200 MT), South Korea (32,900 MT), Japan (13,000 MT), Guatemala (5,100 MT), and Haiti (4,500 MT).  Decreases were reported for Nicaragua (500 MT), El Salvador (300 MT), and the United Kingdom (100 MT).  Exports of 100,100 MT were up noticeably from the previous week and up 32 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Mexico (40,700 MT), Costa Rica (22,900 MT), Saudi Arabia (9,000 MT), Haiti (7,000 MT), and Guatemala (4,800 MT).

Soybeans:  Net sales of 305,700 MT were down noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for China (372,000 MT), Mexico (31,500 MT), Taiwan (12,900 MT), Indonesia (8,900 MT), and Vietnam (7,800 MT), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (57,300 MT), Japan (42,500 MT), Guatemala (24,500 MT), and Colombia (18,200 MT).  Net sales of 129,000 MT for delivery in 2011/2012 were mainly reported for unknown destinations (126,000 MT).  Decreases of 2,700 MT were reported for Japan.  Optional origin sales of 120,000 MT from China exercised to export from the United States.  Exports of 151,100 MT were down 2 percent from the previous week and 8 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were primarily to Mexico (37,700 MT), Japan (30,000 MT), Taiwan (22,600 MT), Indonesia (17,900 MT), and Syria (15,900 MT).

Soybean Cake and Meal:  Net sales reductions of 43,500 MT resulted as increases for Venezuela (24,300 MT), Canada (12,500 MT), Morocco (10,500 MT, including 5,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Honduras (10,200 MT), and Japan (9,200 MT, including 8,900 MT switched from unknown destinations), were more than offset by decreases for the Dominican Republic (48,700 MT), Panama (26,800 MT), Colombia (17,800 MT), and Guatemala (17,300 MT).  Net sales of 900 MT for delivery in 2011/2012 were reported for Canada.  Exports of 108,300 MT were down 17 percent from the previous week, but up 17 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Canada (21,400 MT), Morocco (20,000 MT), Japan (11,100 MT), Guatemala (11,000 MT), and Mexico (10,500 MT).

Soybean Oil:  Net sales reductions of 11,300 MT resulted as increases for Colombia (2,800 MT), El Salvador (800 MT), Morocco (700 MT), and Guatemala (500 MT).  Exports of 21,000 MT were up 4 percent from the previous week and up noticeably from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Morocco (15,700 MT), Mexico (2,100 MT), Guatemala (1,900 MT), and Canada (1,100 MT).

Cotton:  Net Upland sales reductions of 72,600 RB resulted as increases for Taiwan (400 RB) and Morocco (200 RB), were more than offset by decreases for Pakistan (20,400 RB), South Korea (20,300 RB), Turkey (9,500 RB), and China (7,100 RB).  Net sales of 425,500 RB for delivery in 2011/2012 were mainly for China (382,900 RB), South Korea (20,000 RB), El Salvador (18,000 RB), and Pakistan (17,400 RB).  Decreases were reported for Turkey (19,400 RB), and Mexico (5,000 RB).  Exports of 147,800 RB were down 17 percent from the previous week and 23 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (47,500 RB), Turkey (24,200 RB), Mexico (18,600 RB), Thailand (8,300 RB), and Vietnam (7,200 RB).  Net American Pima sales reductions of 4,900 RB resulted as increases for Italy (400 RB), Thailand (300 RB), Guatemala (100 RB), and China (100 RB), were more than offset by decreases for Pakistan (5,000 RB), Japan (500 RB), and Indonesia (400 RB).  Net sales of 5,000 RB for delivery in 2011/2012 were reported for Pakistan.  Exports of 1,900 RB were primarily to Japan (900 RB), India (400 RB), and Indonesia (400 RB).

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 403,600 pieces, all whole cattle hides, were reported for delivery in 2011, up 2 percent from the previous week, but down 16 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were China (253,900 pieces, including 4,800 pieces switched from Vietnam and decreases of 4,100 pieces), South Korea (89,800 pieces), Mexico (33,400 pieces), Italy (11,300 pieces), and Taiwan (7,700 pieces).  Decreases were reported for Germany (6,200 pieces), Vietnam (3,400 pieces), and Hong Kong (800 pieces).  Exports of 447,400 pieces were up 5 percent from the previous week, but down 2 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hides exports of 444,600 pieces were primarily to China (242,500 pieces), South Korea (94,300 pieces), Taiwan (28,400 pieces), Vietnam (26,200 pieces), and Thailand (14,600 pieces).               

Net sales of 110,400 wet blues for delivery in 2011 were primarily for China (50,500 unsplit and 1,900 grain splits), Italy (17,100 unsplit), Mexico (12,300 unsplit and 8,900 grain splits), the Dominican Republic (6,500 unsplit), and Vietnam (4,800 unsplit).  Exports of 135,300 hides were primarily to China (70,000 unsplit and 9,300 grain splits), Vietnam (13,200 unsplit), Taiwan (9,700 unsplit), Hong Kong (8,500 unsplit), and the Dominican Republic (8,300 unsplit).  Net sales reductions of splits totaling 90,000 pounds resulted as increases for Vietnam (2,200 pounds), were more than offset by decreases for South Korea (79,900 pounds) and Italy (12,300 pounds).  Exports of 361,900 pounds were to South Korea (261,900 pounds), Hong Kong (50,000 pounds), and Taiwan (50,000 pounds).

Beef:  Net sales of 13,800 MT for delivery in 2011 were primarily for Mexico (3,700 MT), Canada (3,000 MT), Russia (2,600 MT), South Korea (1,400 MT), and Vietnam (1,200 MT).  Exports of 15,600 MT were mainly to Mexico (3,400 MT), Japan (3,200 MT), South Korea (2,300 MT), Canada (2,200 MT), and Vietnam (1,100 MT).
