LSU AgCenter Dean Lee Field Day Set For July 28


ALEXANDRIA, La. – The LSU AgCenter Dean Lee Research and Extension field day on July 28 will feature presentations on cotton, corn, cattle, soybeans and weed management.

The event will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. followed by field tours at 9 a.m.

The field tours will include presentations by LSU AgCenter experts on cotton variety adaptation, weed management in row crops, updates on the corn and cotton crops, nematode management, bull testing, cattle weaning strategies, cattle hair coat traits, insect control for cotton and soybeans, optimizing soybean yields and soybean disease management.

“We are providing presentations on a wide range of topics because it reflects the diverse nature of agriculture in central Louisiana,” said Ron Levy, director of the Dean Lee station and the LSU AgCenter’s Central Region.

An indoor program, followed by lunch, will be held at the state evacuation center adjacent to the research station. Speakers will include Levy; Willie Cooper, of the Farm Service Administration; Mike Strain, commissioner of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry; LSU AgCenter chancellor Bill Richardson, LSU AgCenter vice chancellor for research John Russin and LSU AgCenter vice chancellor for extension Paul Coreil.
