Cargill To Stop Selling NH3

Sep 30, 2014
Farmers who normally buy their anhydrous ammonia fertilizer from Cargill, will need to look for another retailer starting next summer.

The company has announced that due to the hazardous nature of the product and the regulatory environment, they will stop selling NH3 after the spring of 2015.

A spokesperson for Cargill said the decision was based on several factors including the difficulty of transporting the product.

Liquid fertilizer is also becoming more popular, which has led to reduced demand for anhydrous ammonia.

Cargill has five retail locations in Manitoba including Altona, Morris, Elm Creek, Elva, and Dauphin.
