Choosing a Canola Variety


There are many factors to consider when choosing a canola variety. Murray Hartman, provincial oilseed specialist, says yield is the most obvious factor that applies to all farms, but he says other factors can demand high attention in specific areas, for example, maturity in the short season zone, and clubroot resistance in the Edmonton area. 

Hartman had some advice for participants at this year’s Agronomy Update when it comes to interpreting yield data. First he referred to where the various data comes from.
