Equine Reproduction Conference: Current Topics on Broodmare Management


The equine reproduction conference is held on 6th February 8.00 AM and 7th February 5.00 PM at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

This course is designed to present veterinarians with current techniques and therapies used to optimize fertility potential of mares. The course includes 11 hours of classroom instruction covering selected topics on breeding soundness examinations, breeding management, common reproductive pathologies, behavior issues and assisted reproductive techniques. The goal of this course is to keep participants current on cutting-edge breeding strategies, diagnostics and therapies for the normal and problem mare.

The course also offers a 3-hour wet lab on breeding soundness examination of the mare that provides participants with hands-on experience on collection of endometrial specimens (culture, cytology brush and biopsy), current techniques for uterine therapy and embryo handling and vitrification.
