U M Hosts Equine Forage and Facilities Management Field Day


The University of Minnesota Extension Horse Team is offering an Equine Forage and Facilities Management Field Day from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24, at the University of Minnesota Leatherdale Equine Center on the St. Paul campus.

Krishona Martinson, U-M equine specialist, will discuss an overview of equine pasture management, followed by Carey Williams, Rutgers Extension equine specialist, who will discuss supplements for the grazing horse. Program participants will then walk out to the equine grazing research plots and learn how to identify 12 cool-season pasture grasses. A tour of the equine grazing research plots and a discussion of study findings will follow.
