Eggs in Incubators on August 1 Down 2 Percent from Last Year
Turkey eggs in incubators on August 1, 2010, in the United States totaled 27.9 million, down 2 percent from August 1, 2009. Eggs in incubators were down 6 percent from the July 1, 2010 total of 29.9 million eggs. Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central down 1 percent, West North Central up 5 percent, North and South Atlantic down 4 percent, and South Central and West down 20 percent.
Poults Hatched During July Up 1 Percent from Last Year
Turkey poults hatched during July 2010, in the United States totaled 26.1 million, up 1 percent from July 2009. Poults hatched were up 7 percent from the June 2010 total of 24.3 million poults. Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central up 13 percent, West North Central up 2 percent, North and South Atlantic up 2 percent, and South Central and West down 17 percent.
Net Poults Placed During July Up 3 Percent from Last Year
The 25.7 million net poults placed during July 2010 in the United States were up 3 percent from the number placed during the same month a year earlier. Net placements were up 7 percent from the June 2010 total of 23.9 million.
