U.S. corn and soybean planting made another solid round of advances last week thanks to generally good weather.

As of Sunday, 94% of corn is planted, compared to 99% a year ago and the five year average of 98%, with 79% emerged, compared to 93% last year and 90% on average. Kansas and North Carolina have wrapped up for the year and another eight states are at 95% to 99% finished but Ohio remains far behind normal at 58%. 67% of corn is in good to excellent condition, 4% more than a week ago.

68% of soybeans have been planted, compared to 83% last year and 82% on average, and 44% has emerged, compared to 63% a year ago and 61% on average.

The winter wheat crop condition rating has improved another 1% to 34% good to excellent but remains poorer than average following a hot, dry winter and spring in the U.S. Plains. 10% of the crop is harvested, compared to 4% a year ago and 6% on average, with 79% headed, compared to 83% last year and 85% on average.

For spring wheat, 79% is planted, compared to 97% a year ago and 98% on average, and 57% has emerged, compared to 89% last year and 92% on average.
