BC ranch asking $23.8 million for 5,925 acres.

By Andrew Joseph, Farms.com

Sitting on the south edge of the Cariboo-Chilcotin region in central British Columbia, the Four Hearts ranch consisting of a seven-bedroom 10,000-square-foot mansion, seven smaller guest/worker homes on 5,925 acres.

Asking a measly $23.8 million, the property also has four private lakes, an equestrian facility and stable, cattle farm, airplane hangar, and helicopter landing pad. The main house has geothermal heating.

The current owner is a Canadian mining executive who once stayed in the area asking the innkeeper/realtor about possible land opportunities. Purchasing a plot of land, the owner had the mansion built by BC homebuilder Sitka Log Homes, and as surrounding lands became available, purchased them.

Fans of landscapes, pastures, hills, wildlife-viewing trails, camping, fishing, swimming canoeing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing or ice fishing should have a blast. For those who enjoy hunting, opportunities abound in the Spring and Autumn for bears, cougars, geese and migratory birs, and moose.

Some 3,400 acres of the property are designated as being in the BC Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) where agriculture is recognized as the priority use, with farming encouraged and non-agricultural uses restricted. Land within an ALR receives a 50 percent value exemption for school and hospital taxes.

For horse lovers, the ranch contains a state-of-the-art equestrian centre with a custom-built riding arena, round pen, hay barn, carpenter and mechanical shops, and a 10-horse stable which once held the largest North American herd of Morgan horses.
