Live Cattle Commodity Update for the Week Ending Aug 18, 2023

The week of Aug 14, 2023 saw the price of live cattle end at 178.825. Compared to last week’s ending price of 181.325 the price of live cattle dropped by 1.4%.

The lowest price point for live cattle during the week occurred on Aug 17, 2023 when the price was at 178.325.

In the span of a month, the price of live cattle dropped by 2.6%. At this time last month, live cattle was at 183.55 and have since dropped to 178.825.

Live cattle has also seen an improvement from last year. At this time in 2022, the price was at 156.5. The change in prices from a year ago represents an increase of 14.3%.

On May 20, 2022, live cattle had its worst day as far as markets go when it was at 150.2.

Live cattle’s total volume for the week was 119635. Its worst performing day came on Aug 14, 2023, when the commodity saw its weekly low of 19769.
