Agstar: Prices Spike, Exports Decrease from PED Virus Impact

The Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus (PEDv) moving into Canada this week, expectations show up to 5 million pigs could be lost between June 2013 and June 2014. Tight pork supplies, as a result of the PED virus, are pushing prices higher in the market. In turn, the higher prices are limiting the orders from overseas creating an impact on our exports. Brett Stuart from Global AgriTrends gives us an update on the impact of PEDv and the best case scenario for 2014 pork exports.
