North Carolina Pork Conference February 4th - 5th, 2010

The North Carolina Pork Council (NCPC) is pleased to be hosting the 2010 NC Pork Conference in conjunction with the Southern Farm Show.

The Southern Farm Show runs Wednesday, February 3 – Friday, February 5, 2010 at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh and is free to attend.

NC Pork Conference events are planned for Thursday, February 4th and Friday, February 5th beginning with a complimentary lunch on Thursday. The “We Care” trailer from the National Pork Board (NPB) will be at the Martin building on the fairgrounds serving lunch on both Thursday and Friday.

The theme for Thursday afternoon will be the “State of the Industry.” Beginning in the Martin building at 1 pm, industry leaders, agribusiness lenders, and industry economists will participate in panel discussions and be available to answer participant questions.

The annual Bacon Bash fundraising event for the NCPC Political Action Committee will also take place during the conference. This members-only event will be at the Raleigh Marriott Crabtree Valley beginning at 5:30 pm. In addition to the traditional reverse raffle for the $5,000 grand prize and the food and drink, there will be expanded entertainment. New for 2010 is a dueling pianos show featuring 176 Keys. Friday morning, we will present our annual industry awards at a breakfast ceremony also at the Raleigh Marriott Crabtree Valley. Preregistration for the breakfast is $10 and or $15 at the door. Immediately following the breakfast will be the 2010 Annual Meeting.

Following Friday’s lunch with the “We Care” trailer, seminars for Operator in Charge credits will be held at the Martin building beginning at 1:00 pm.

Merry Christmas! It was very busy year for us. We are very thankful we had some irrigation on this dry year, it was a life saver. We had a really good corn silage crop and a really poor canola crop. We also finished our barn project, and did an upgrade at our river screen intakes to protect them from the ice.
