2018 summary of export/import conditions for bees across canada overview and highlights for Ontario beekeepers for spring.

New Brunswick, Québec and Prince Edward Island may permit the import of Ontario
honey bee colonies and nucleus colonies:

? Inspections are required by the Ontario Apiary Program as well as the Ontario
beekeeper applying to the other province.
? In some cases, there are attestation or declaration forms that Ontario
beekeepers are also required to submit to the province they intend to export to
(see below).
? For the provinces of New Brunswick and Québec, the Ontario beekeeper is
responsible for labelling colonies to identify them (see below).
? Contact your local Ontario Apiary Inspector as soon as you know you are
transporting bees for pollination to give the Inspector a heads up, and to
prioritize scheduling of inspections.

? “Beetle Bee Gone”® sheets are required for colonies imported to New
Brunswick, Québec and Prince Edward Island.
This is a chemical-free fabric sheet that is placed in colonies (conditions are
specific to each province).

? A Transit Permit is required move honey bees through Québec (see links
and contacts below).
o Any beekeepers moving bees to New Brunswick or Prince Edward
Island will require a Transit Permit

At present, the following provinces will not accept Ontario honey bee colonies and
nucleus colonies but may still accept honey bee queens with conditions:
o Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan and Alberta
