$7 Million Announced in Crop Research

Provincial Ag Minister Lyle Stewart announcing $7 million dollars in Federal/Provincial funding for Crop related research through Saskatchewan’s Agriculture Development Fund.

Stewart says investing in research is very important, in order for us to be better we have to adapt to changing conditions.

"Research is key both in terms of varities, better traits that can be added to new varities, technology and so on. As I said, our producers are early adapters of new technology. The research funding we can come up with, the industry comes up with and the federal comes up with never goes to waste in Saskatchewan. It's always adapted."

Industry partners like the W-G-R-F and commodity organizations also stepping up to the plate with another 2.8 million dollars in funding for crop related research.

The money will go to fund 40 crop related research projects in the province.
