Alberta Agriculture Industry Participates in Mission to FOODEX Japan

In March, Alberta Agriculture and Forestry (AF), in collaboration with the Alberta Japan Office, coordinated a delegation of seven companies and organizations to the FOODEX Japan show.

The delegation walked the show to gather market intelligence and sales leads at FOODEX, the largest food and beverage trade show in the Asia Pacific. Working with Canada Pork International, the Canada Beef International Institute, and Edmonton Economic Development, a promotional booth helped to profile Alberta pork, beef, chocolate, bakery, edible oils, grains, water, processed meat products, and more to Japanese buyers. Additional value-added programming throughout the mission, and as part of the Canadian Pavilion at the show, included a market briefing session, store tours, pre-arranged meetings, as well as a reception at the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo.

Japan was Alberta’s third largest destination for agriculture and agri-food exports in 2015, with exports totaling $1.1 billion.
