Bovine veterinarian health conference scheduled Aug. 3 at Texas A&M

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the American Association of Extension Veterinarians are co-hosting the Extension session of the 2014 U.S.  Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus Symposium Aug. 3 at Texas A&M University.

The event can be attended in person or viewed via webinar for the morning session only. The Texas State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners has approved nine hours of continuing education for those attending in person and five hours for those attending via webinar.

Cost is $25 for American Association of Extension Veterinariansand $50 for non-members.

“We have an in-depth program scheduled with a number of internationally recognized experts from across the country,” said Dr. Tom Hairgrove, AgriLife Extension livestock and food animal systems coordinator, College Station.

The following are topics and speakers:

  • Clearing Diagnostic Confusion, Dr. Julia Ridpath, U.S. Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Research Service, Ames, Iowa; Dr. John Wenzel, Extension veterinarian, New Mexico State University.
  • Leukopenia Differences Following BVDV One-pound Challenge in Vaccinated Angus-Nellore Steers, Erika Downey, graduate student, veterinary integrative biosciences, Texas A&M.

 

  • Strategic BVD Control, Dale Groteloueschen, director of the Great Plains Veterinary Education Center, University of Nebraska-Lincoln; Dr. Dave Smith, College of Veterinary Medicine-Kansas State University.
  • BVD Consult-Practical Tool for Practitioner and Producer, Dr. Bob Larson, professor, College of Veterinary Medicine-Kansas State.
