Changes To Alberta Canola Producers Commission Grain Price Reporting

The Alberta Canola Producers Commission (ACPC) remains committed to providing Alberta farmers with easy access to grain marketing information, but will no longer be responsible for collecting the cash prices.

The new www.pdqinfo.ca prairie wide price collection system launched by the Alberta Wheat Commission will serve as the price provider for daily cash prices, including canola.

“We appreciate the Alberta Wheat Commission’s cooperation in providing us with Alberta prices”, says Stuart Holmen, chair of the ACPC’s Grower Relations and Extension Committee, “We have a large number of users that have been visiting our site for cash prices for many years, and we look forward to continuing to provide them with great information on agronomy, marketing, and management alike.”

In October 2009, ACPC assumed responsibility for collecting and posting regional grain cash prices and weekly feed grain price reports from the Alberta Grains Council.

“We are proud of the grain price program that we developed and refined over the last six years”, adds Holmen, “We congratulate the Alberta Wheat Commission and the Western Grain Elevators Association members on creating a new prairie wide program that also includes deferred pricing information.”

The weekly feed grain price reporting component will be continue to be available from Alberta Agriculture and Forestry as part of their Weekly Crop Market Review.
