CLAAS of America Receives Two AE50 Awards

CLAAS of America Inc. recently received two AE50 Outstanding Innovation Awards for the LEXION 4D Cleaning System and AUTO CROP FLOW.

The AE50 Award program celebrates products that feature the highest in innovation, significant engineering advancement and impact on the market served.

“Recognition by professionals in the industry is the highest honor any agricultural product can receive,” said CLAAS of America President and General Manager – Sales, Eric Raby. “CLAAS constantly strives to ensure a better harvest with premium products designed for maximum throughput, efficiency and reliability. We’re excited to be recognized by the ASABE for these groundbreaking solutions.”

The AE50 Award program’s expert panel of engineers reviewed all entries to determine the top 50 products that represent the diversity of agricultural and biological engineering. This year’s recipients join the ranks of many who have been honored for their ingenuity in product development – saving producers time, cost and labor, while improving user safety.

4D Cleaning System

The 4D Cleaning System on the LEXION combine is an active, multi-directional slope compensation system that actively adjusts the angles of the rotor-cover plates to automatically compensate for combine side roll when harvesting a field with sloping terrain. Changes in the fore and aft pitch of the combine are also addressed with automatic adjustments to the cleaning fan speed; increasing the power when running downhill and decreasing the speed going uphill.

AUTO CROP FLOW

The AUTO CROP FLOW system in the LEXION combine counteracts spike loading to prevent machine plugging. The system responds to combine overloading in a step-by-step process to prevent downtime. AUTO CROP FLOW will automatically stop the feederhouse and header (via header brake), and disengage the separator if needed, when the combine senses a sudden overload.

Companies from around the world submit entries to the annual AE50 competition and up to 50 of the best products are chosen by a panel of international engineering experts. The judges select products that will best advance engineering for the food and agriculture industries. The AE50 awards program is sponsored by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) to emphasize the role of new products and systems in bringing advanced technology to the marketplace. These engineering developments help farmers, food processors and equipment manufacturers cut costs, enhance quality and increase profits.
