CRFA Member Opens World Class Biodiesel Facility in Welland, Ontario

WELLAND, ON — The Canadian Renewable Fuels Association (CRFA) congratulates Atlantic Biodiesel on the official opening of its new, state-of-the-art renewable fuel facility in Welland, Ontario. Atlantic Biodiesel’s new facility is one of the largest in North America and produces 170 million litres of renewable, clean-burning biodiesel and 15 million litres of high-grade glycerin per year. The facility produces biofuel suitable for cold weather applications and is situated near infrastructure that provides storage as well as shipping to a range of North American markets.

“The opening of Atlantic Biodiesel’s facility is great news for Welland and Ontario,” said Andrea Kent, President of CRFA. “We salute Atlantic Biodiesel’s new leadership team for their long-term commitment to biofuels and to local and national economic prosperity. They represent a fantastic and welcome addition to our membership.”

“This is an important day for Atlantic Biodiesel and for the greater Welland community,” said Michael Paszti, Chief Operating Officer of Atlantic Biodiesel. “Our world class facility is up and running. We are excited to be a part of this community and to support the local economy. We are making a commitment today; where we are able to, we’re going to source locally.”

The Welland facility will bring approximately 25 local jobs and significant indirect business to the area. Proud supporters of community and local businesses, Atlantic Biodiesel supports agriculture and significantly contributes to provincial and federal greenhouse gas reduction targets.
