Crop Insurance Claims Slowly Trickle In From Saskatchewan’s Southern Grainbelt

The Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation is already receiving crop damage claims due to very hot and dry weather.

So far, 60 claims have been presented.

The claims are in the southern grainbelt and range from  Estevan to the Swift Current offices.

Crop insurance president Shawn Jacques says the claims are mainly producers who want to bale or graze their poor crop for livestock feed.

“If they’re not a livestock producer, that’s where the immediate concern is right now,” Jacques said. “For grains and oilseed producers, we’ve been hearing them saying for the time-being, their crop is hanging on.”
