Crop Missions Tour Italy

Last week's Canadian crop trade mission in Italy seemed to have gone well.

Henry Vos, a farmer from the Peace River district in Alberta, took part in the tour, which gave perspective buyers, millers, and pasta manufacturers information on this years crop. He says in Italy they use a fair amount of Canadian durum in their pasta along with CWRS wheat.

He adds it was a great opportunity to interact with international customers.

"They had concerns about mycotoxins in our grain, things like ochratoxin A," Vos says. "There are standards in Europe that they have to be below, and so they were asking questions about that, asking questions about grain storage and aeration and how we ensure the grain doesn't spoil."

Vos flew home from Italy last week, but many other Canadian producers are still travelling the globe with the crop missions.
