Dynamic Youth Program Announced For 2013 Farmsmart Conference

(GUELPH) – Organizers have assembled a spectacular fun-filled agenda for the always-popular Youth Program at this year’s FarmSmart Conference with Beef Symposium, including an opportunity to tour the Ontario Veterinary College and the zero-gravity laboratory.

YOUTH PROGRAM SESSIONS INCLUDE

  • "Leading-edge agriculture technologies" with Greg Kitching and Steve Reynolds
  • "Leadership in agriculture" with Rob Murray
  • "Don't put off until tomorrow!" with Rita Emmett, an award-winning author
  • FUN TOURS AROUND THE CAMPUS, NOT TO BE MISSED!
  • Scavenger hunt around the campus--always a lot of fun!
  • Tour of the Ontario Veterinary College (a first for our FarmSmart Youth Program!)
  • Tour of the Controlled-Environment Systems Research Facility (the zero-gravity lab)


WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Cost: $30, includes lunch and refreshments.
  • The program is fully chaperoned.
  • Participants are encouraged to pre-register
  • Advance registration closes on Thursday, January 17, 2013 (4 pm by telephone, midnight through online
  • registration).

  • Walk-in registrations on the day of the event will be accepted.

  • mitts may be necessary, weather depending.

The FarmSmart Conference with Beef Symposium is a joint project of the Golden Horseshoe and Heartland Regional Soil and Crop Improvement Associations, in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA), the Ontario Agricultural College (OAC), the Ontario Cattlemen’s Association (OCA) and various agri-business partners, including CornSmart Presenting sponsor DuPont Pioneer and conference Platinum sponsors BASF Canada Inc., Bayer CropScience, Dekalb, Farm Credit Canada and Syngenta.

The FarmSmart organization started in 1998 as a conference only event geared to help educate farmers on new topics that might assist them to develop their farming operations. The FarmSmart philosophy is to attract all producers, whether the farm focus and interest is cropping and nutrient management or livestock production.
