Farm Innovation Tour

Agriculture is constantly changing and the best way to keep current on innovations is to get out of the office to visit real farms and agribusinesses and meet the people behind them.

Farm & Food Care is hosting bus tours profiling innovation in animal welfare and environment on farms and agri-businesses across Ontario.
Join government and agri-business leaders for a unique day of learning, networking and discussion.

Tour Agenda
8:00 a.m. Meet at the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs,
1 Stone Road West, Guelph.

8:15 a.m. Bus departs Guelph.

Stop #1 Floradale Feed Mill Limited (Floradale) – Floradale Feed Mill Limited has always been committed to offering its customers the finest
in feeds and service for over 50 years. As a full service feed supplier to the livestock and poultry industries, it offers a wide array of feed
manufacturing capabilities.

Stop #2 Martin’s Family Fruit Farm (Waterloo) – It is Martin’s Family Fruit Farm’s passion for farming, commitment to quality and freshness
and dedication to specialized customer service that has helped the business grow to become one of the largest growers, packers, and
shippers in North America. Today, Martin’s Family Fruit Farm is still a family owned and operated business. With over 700 acres in
production, it handles fresh-picked Ontario apples that are delivered year-round.

Lunch Enjoy a hot lunch buffet at the Crossroads Restaurant in Elmira, Ontario.

Stop #3 Heritage Hill Farms (Plattsville) – The Johnston and Doré families have built success in New Dundee with an innovative dairy barn
that houses 65 cows, and considers animal care as a top priority on their farm. Cows benefit from automatic brushes (like the kind you
see in a car wash!), comfortable and composted bedding materials and automatic yard scrapers to keep the cows clean and comfortable.
Currently, a heifer barn is being built on the farm to consolidate the operation and provide expert care for their animals.
