Farmers Hope For Dry Weather

Farmers are crossing their fingers that there isn't another major snow storm before spring melt.

Earlier this week the province released its first flood forecast of the year, suggesting that there could be a risk of moderate to major flooding depending on the weather.

Keystone Agricultural Producers President Dan Mazier says with some farmers not getting all their crop off in the fall, there could be a real time crunch this spring.

"Especially if anybody has there crop laying out right now, that step has to happen before you even get the seeder out," he commented.

Mazier notes the normal seeding window usually starts May 1, with June 15 being the final deadline for most producers.
