MAGIE Brings the Latest in Farming Technology

MAGIE is back in town and more sophisticated than ever. It's one of the largest agricultural shows in Montana with 220 vendors from around the region traveling from places like Canada, Idaho and Minnesota.

" We'll have 13 to 16,000 people that will come in here and see these vendors this weekend," says Agricultural Director for KMON Radio Jim Sargent.

Vendor Harold Bouma who specializes on manufacturing post poles for farm fencing says he's only missed one MAGIE exhibit. Bouma says the farming industry has changed in the past 30 years

"Farming is almost like electronics. Everything has changed so much. We used to farm ourselves," says Bouma.
.
Gone are the days where farmers and ranchers had to steer their tractors.

" Assisted steering systems that are offered just like auto pilot in an airplane, the producers are now using this type of technology in there farming operations, " says vendor Doug Rohlf.

Assisted steering systems accurately guide farmers through their field, saving them time and money. Besides all the latest technology attendees say it's a great way for farmers to network. Even U.S. Sen. Jon Tester took a break from his duties to enjoy the exhibit.
