Missouri Farmers and Law Enforcement Join Forces with Eco-Friendly “soybean" Tires

The Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council (MSMC) has forged a unique partnership with select sheriff departments in key soybean-producing counties, showcasing the ingenuity of soybean farmers and acknowledging the invaluable role of law enforcement across the state.

MSMC has equipped over a dozen Missouri counties with sets of Goodyear Eagle® Enforcer All Weather™ tires, which are environmentally friendly and specifically designed to meet the high-performance needs of Missouri's top agricultural crop growers. These tires stem from Goodyear's groundbreaking soy-based line, where renewable soybean oil replaces 60% of the tire's petroleum content.

Aaron Porter, MSMC Chair, emphasized the importance of developing new applications for soy and addressing challenges faced by their partners to ensure a prosperous future for soybeans. The soy-based tires exemplify the innovative spirit fostered by farmers' investments in their checkoff program, and the collaboration with law enforcement highlights the practical implementation of this technology.

Goodyear's Eagle® Enforcer All Weather™ tires, introduced in 2019 through a partnership with the United Soybean Board (USB), contain a soy-based rubber compound that offers exceptional traction, control, and durability in all conditions. The Enforcer™ combines performance features essential for law enforcement's demanding operations with the environmental benefits of soy-based tires.

The partnership has been warmly received by law enforcement agencies, exemplified by Sheriff Larry Fish of Clinton County, who expressed gratitude for the program's opportunity to support

local farmers. The soy-based tires not only promote sustainability but also offer extended tread life, enhancing their value for law enforcement vehicles that cover significant mileage each year.

The initiative's impact extends to the counties that received the soy-based tires, encompassing Clinton, Dekalb, Gentry, Perry, Ralls, Scotland, Clay, Cooper, Mississippi, Scott, New Madrid, Audrain, and Lafayette.
