Near-Ideal Conditions For Spring Seeding In Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan farmers should make a good start to spring seeding this week and at least one weather specialist is forecasting warm and mild temperatures

Environment Canada senior climatologist David Phillips says April had a wide range of weather, but this week should be very good for spring seeding in southern Saskatchewan:

“So, my sense is, the beginning of the growing season is looking like a lot of good news,” said Phillips.

He says the weather will be near ideal this week for farmers hoping to start planting the 2017 crop.

“Temperatures up to 24 and no frost occurring,” added Phillips. “I think seeding is just going to gallop along. The soil is going to warm up and that’s important.”
