PA youth shine at Wildlife Habitat Invitational

Meet Carley Locke and Grace Ziegmont - Pennsylvania's youth champions in wildlife knowledge. They recently represented our state at the National Wildlife Habitat Education Program Invitational in Iowa.

Organized by 4-H and FFA, this event is no ordinary gathering. It's where youngsters aged 8-19 compete and learn about nature. They get their hands dirty, understanding different habitats. And this year, the spotlight was on the Great Plains grasslands.

Carley was excited to share her learnings. She talked about the goodness of native plants and animals and the need to tackle invasive species. And guess what? She's urging her grandma to join the cause by planting native grasses.

But how did these two get to Iowa? Their dedication at Pennsylvania's Wildlife and Forestry Field Day in May earned them the spot. The event was a chance for Pennsylvania's 4-H members to nurture their love for wildlife and forestry.
