Rain And Snow Will Cause Significant Harvest Delay In Saskatchewan

Heavy rain and snow this week is expected to cause a significant delay to harvest across Saskatchewan.

Provincial crops analyst Daphne Cruise says many farmers will need 4 to 5 days of warm dry weather before they can resume combining.

Cruise expects both yield and quality will be affected by the severe weather.

She says some cereal crops will have bleaching or sprouting.

Cruise adds there may be some shattering of canola.

As well, the snow will flatten crops, making harvest slow and difficult.

Anhydrous Ammonia application with a John Deere 8960 Tractor

Video of a farm in southern Darke County Ohio putting on pre-plant anhydrous ammonia using their John Deere 8960 Tractor pulling a 19 shank DMI 5250 applicator tool bar and tank. I filmed this mid April 2025. The anhydrous ammonia is a form of nitrogen and will feed the corn they will be planting into this field.
