A new report says Regina’s Agribition contributes 73-million dollars to the provincial economy. The study was done by by SJ Research Services.
Chris Lane, Agribition CEO, says the show has grown on the international market scene with more visitors spending more money.
“Livestock is the core,” Lane said. “But we’re also seeing more and more transactions and sales happening for the exhibitors coming to Agribition who maybe are not in livestock. So, machinery companies and trade show exhibitors. It’s all coming together as a ‘tied-together’ business model for Agribition.”
Lane says the increase is partly due to growth in the international market. He says the show also creates work for over 18 hundred people.
“As Agribition expands and our footprint expands and our ability to do business expands,” said Lane. “So too does that need to hire people and get it done. So that’s a good part of the story too.
Lane says the show’s economic impact has jumped 17 million dollars since the last study two years ago.
“I think what’s happened at Agribition is it’s become an even bigger market place on the international scene,” Lane said. “We’re seeing a bit of a change in the visitors that come. We’re seeing more of them and seeing them spend more money while they’re here. And we’re also seeing an increase in the kind of business that gets done at Agribition.”
The study says Agribition has a 44-million dollar impact on the economy of Regina and creates 23 million dollars in annual revenue for municipal, provincial and federal governments.
